                                     Meet Our Pastor
Kerry James is the husband of Yolanda C. James and father of two sons Aaron and Joshua James. He is the oldest child of Forace and Kathleen James.  He was ordained as an itinerant deacon in October of 2003 and later ordained as an itinerant elder in 2005 all under the leadership of Bishop C. Garnett Henning Sr. He has been in the ministry for 26 years and currently assigned at Mount Olive AME Church in Slidell, La. Over the past years he has served St. Paul AME Church, Bogalusa, La, Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church, Baton Rouge La., Cummings Wilson A.M.E. Church, New Orleans, La., Oak Grove A.M.E. Church in Kentwood, La., Doughty Chapel A.M.E. Church, Covington, La., Greater Payne A.M.E. Church, Folsom, La., Historic St. Peter A.M.E. Church New Orleans, La., and Gaines Chapel A.M.E. Church, Franklinton, La.   He has grown up in the 8th District of the African Methodist Episcopal Church in the Louisiana Annual conference at Crystal Springs A.M.E. Church located in Mount Hermon, La.  He is currently employed with the Social Security Administration as a claims specialist.  He is a graduate of Payne Theological Seminary of Wilberforce, Ohio where he earned a Doctor of Ministry and Master of Divinity Degree.  He attended Southern University and A & M College, Baton Rouge, La. where he earned a B.S. in Therapeutic Recreation and Leisure studies. He is a veteran of the United States Army during the Desert Storm/Shield.  The capacity of organizations that he is actively involved includes Phi Beta Sigma Inc., Prince Hall Free and Accepted Masonry, American Legion, Veteran of Foreign Wars, Neighborhood Christian Center, Inc. board member and other organizations around his community.  He currently serves as the Dean of Instructions for the board of examiners & instruction of Louisiana Annual Conference for the past couple years and been a member of the board for the past 10 years. His favorite scripture for living out the Christian cause is "I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me." Philippians 4:13. He loves the Lord, his family, the church, the people of God, and trying to live out the purpose of God.
